An Indian court sentenced Bollywood actor Salman Khan to five years in prison for killing a homeless man in a 2002 hit-and-run, the BBC reports.

Khan was charged with culpable homicide, though he said his driver was the one behind the wheel at the time. Judge D.W. Deshpande said Khan was indeed driving the car, and was under the influence of alcohol when he lost control of his Toyota Landcruiser and hit a group of five people on the ground.

The Bombay high court granted Khan two-days interim bail on Wednesday, “on the ground that he had not received a copy of the lower court’s order sentencing him,” according to the Hindustan Times.

The actor, who has appeared in more than 80 Hindu-language films, also spent a week in jail in 2007 after killing an endangered gazelle while hunting.
