Jimmy Kimmel makes fake commercial for Met Gala 'Rihanket'
Rihanna’s yellow fur-trimmed cape caught a lot of attention at this year’s Met Gala, and Jimmy Kimmel is making it possible for everyone to have a replica of the now-famous garment for just four easy payments of $29,999.99.
Kimmel spoofed a commercial for the “Rihanket,” a giant yellow blanket reminiscent of Rihanna’s Guo Pei frock—fur trim and all—from the makers of Snuggie and the ShamWow. The faux advertisement markets the blanket to have more than 1,000 uses, everything from a dress to a parachute for base-jumping.
Prior to showing the ad, Kimmel poked fun at all of the most-talked-about outfits from the Met Gala, including Sarah Jessica Parker’s “very Heat Miser” get-up and Kris Jenner’s carpet-matching gown. He pointed out that these extravagant dresses get only get one night of glory and then are never seen again, despite all the designers’ efforts.
“You’d think if they spend so much time and money making a dress like this, they’d want to manufacture it and sell it, but they rarely do—until now.” Kimmel said. Considering Rihanna’s cape took two years to make, maybe the “Rihanket” isn’t such a bad idea.
