Now more than ever, no one feels safe on Grey’s Anatomy—but no matter what happens to her character, Debbie Allen isn’t going anywhere.

Allen will serve as executive producer on the ABC drama’s upcoming 12th season and direct multiple episodes, pending its official pickup by the network, Deadline reports. She will also continue to recur on camera as Jackson Avery’s mother, Catherine.

Allen got her start on Grey’s Anatomy directing three episodes of its sixth season, which led to her recurring role as Catherine Avery. She has since directed four more episodes of Grey’s and helmed episodes of two other Shonda Rhimes dramas—Scandal and How to Get Away with Murder.

An accomplished dancer, choreographer, and Broadway actress, Allen continued to make a name for herself behind the camera this past season. Outside Shondaland, she helmed an episode of the CW’s critical darling Jane the Virgin and directed the season finale of Fox’s smash hit Empire.

Meredith. Alex. Bailey. The doctors are definitely in on Shonda Rhimes' hospital melodrama.
