“Weird Al” Yankovic is bringing his electic style to the mix at Mad Magazine as the publication’s first-ever guest editor. The songwriter has been a lifelong fan; Yankovic told EW in a recent interview that Mad sent him on “the dark, twisted path to becoming who I am today.”

We might all have Mad to thank for works of genius like Yankovic’s “White & Nerdy,” “Amish Paradise,” and “The Saga Begins,” since it all began with the parodist’s first copy of Mad—the October 1969 edition.

For EW‘s First and Worst video series, Yankovic told us about that very first issue, his most challenging costume (how does Lady Gaga do it?), and that time he literally fell through a stage.
