Justin Timberlake taps into his emotional side as a washed-up lime for a Sauza 901 tequlia advertisement just in time for Cinco de Mayo. The singer/actor might have given standout performances in Model Behavior, The Social Network and Saturday Night Live, but his portrayal of a struggling citrus fruit is really something special.
The three-minute ad reminds viewers that while limes used to be a large part of tequila consumption, Rick “Sour” Vane (Timberlake) and his fellow green friends have suffered to find their place in a post-lime world.
As Mashable notes, Timberlake is a co-owner of Sauza 901, and he tweeted out a personal video apology to the limes that have faced hardships following his quest to create a super smooth tequila. In the video, he acknowledged plans to support them in future cooking endeavors.
