If Zayn Malik’s exit from One Direction still doesn’t feel real, consider it official—the singer has removed all traces of 1D from his Twitter account.

During his time in the band, Malik’s handle was @zaynmalik1D. Now, his handle is now simply @zaynmalik. He also removed a link to One Direction’s official website from his bio.

Naturally, this apparent final declaration of departure didn’t go unnoticed by Directioners, and sparked another social media frenzy as the hashtag #YouWillAlwaysBeZaynMalik1D started trending worldwide. Malik posted a tweet following the bio change:

Now that Malik’s social media no longer shows his association One Direction, and his first solo track has been leaked, any potential return to the band seems pretty unlikely. But, for the time being, fans can refer to an alternate universe where he still might be belting out those beautiful high notes in songs like “You & I” and “Story of My Life.” According to Stephen Hawking, “It would not be beyond the realms of possibility that somewhere outside of our own universe lies another, different universe and, in that universe, Zayn is still in One Direction.”
