'San Andreas' alters promotional plans in wake of Nepal earthquake
In the wake of recent tragedies, upcoming earthquake disaster film San Andreas will be released this summer as scheduled, but its promotional plans will be altered.
Following the 7.8 earthquake that hit Nepal and killed thousands, the studio considered shifting its release but decided to roll out the film as planned. Trailers and poster art will also remain the same, but the film’s marketing will now include information about how people can contribute to help Nepal.
“We will continue to evaluate our worldwide marketing campaign to ensure that we are sensitive to those affected by this tragic event,” the studio said in a statement.
A Warner Bros. PSA campaign detailing how people should prepare for natural disasters will move forward with new information about Nepal.
San Andreas is scheduled to be released in the U.S. on May 29.
