'Ride': EW review

Helen Hunt writes, directs, and stars as Jackie, a high-strung New Yorker editor who secretly follows her college-dropout son Angelo (The Giver’s Brenton Thwaites) to L.A. to keep tabs on him. Once he finds out, the two inevitably butt heads, but with the help of an easygoing beach bum (Luke Wilson), they surf their way through their issues. Hunt seems to confuse fast-talking with crackling banter, and the mother-son bond is way ickier than it is cute. C
