Helen Hunt makes a scene by announcing where babies come from in 'Ride'
Most parents would be understandably concerned if their child went to a college all the way across the country… and then dropped out in order to surf. But in Ride, the new film written, directed, and starring Helen Hunt, her character, a driven editor for The New Yorker, takes it especially hard. In fact, she gets on a plane to investigate how and why her son (Brenton Thwaites) insists on throwing his promising future into the waves.
Part of the answer might lie in their relationship. She’s a neurotic hands-on mom, and getting away from her constant interference drives him 3,000 miles west. In this exclusive clip for the film, which opens in theaters and VOD on May 1, she demonstrates the same brand of blunt criticism that she likely applies at the office on her son—and then proceeds to embarrass him in public like only a mother can.
Here’s the trailer for the film, which also stars Luke Wilson.
