With his characteristic belt, Nate Ruess released “AhHa,” the second single off his June 16 solo effort, Grand Romantic. Formerly the frontman of the now defunct The Format and still the frontman of fun., “AhHa” leans towards the former (though with such a distinct vocal sitting center, it’s often a blurred lined). And while it swells like the singer’s latest release off Romantic, “Nothing Without Love,” “AhHa” snears decidedly darker from a conceptual standpoint. Ruess laments losing the romanticism with which he saw the world as a kid, the depression that ensued once it was gone and how ready he is to, once again, “free this Grand Romantic in me.”

Ruess will introduce the collection by touring throughout Europe and North America starting on May 31. Ruess will hit New York City’s Webster Hall in June, and wrap the tour on Aug. 9 in San Francisco for Outside Lands Music Festival. A full list of dates are on the singer’s website.
