After Bruce Jenner came out as a transgender in an interview that aired Friday on ABC, his family publicly voiced their support—including stepdaughter Kim Kardashian, who appeared on the Today show Monday to speak with Matt Lauer about Jenner’s announcement.

“I see reports that say this one doesn’t support him, and this one’s over here, and my mom feels this way, and it’s really so made up,” she said. “We all really support him. Is it a hard adjustment? Yes.”

During the Friday interview, Jenner brought up how Kanye West, Kardashian’s husband, helped her come to terms with Jenner’s decision. “He says to Kim, ‘Look, I can be married to the most beautiful woman in the world, and I am. I can have the most beautiful little daughter in the world, and I have that. But I’m nothing if I can’t be me. If I can’t be true to myself, they don’t mean anything.'” As Jenner said, “Since then, Kimberly has been, by far, the most accepting, and the easiest to talk to about it.”

“Bruce is the most honest, just—he has the biggest heart, and I’m really happy for him that he is living his life the way he wants to live it,” Kardashian told Lauer. “And that he has found inner peace and just pure happiness. That’s what life is about.”

Jenner has not indicated a preference for female pronouns. This story uses male pronouns in deference to that.
