'Break My Heart 1,000 Times' film to star Hailee Steinfeld
The Break My Heart 1,000 Times film adaptation has its key players. Hailee Steinfeld will star in the big-screen version of Daniel Walters’ young-adult novel, Gold Circle Films announced Monday. Scott Speer (Step Up Revolution) will direct the project, written by Jason Fuchs (Ice Age: Continental Drift, Pan). The movie is described as having “the romantic heart of The Fault in Our Stars married with the suspense and chills of The Sixth Sense.” (Side note: Whenever the next John Green novel is optioned, please grab M. Night Shyamalan to work his magic on it.)
The movie is described to feature a world of ghost-like spirits who live among the humans after a “cataclysmic event has torn the barrier between our world and the next.” It could spark a franchise, per the press release. Until she lives with those specter-like beings in Break My Heart, Steinfeld, who won us over in True Grit, will join the Barden Bellas in Pitch Perfect 2, out May 15.
Break My Heart 1,000 Times will be produced by Paul Brooks, with Fuchs, Scott Niemeyer, and Brad Kessell joining as executive producers.
