Nintendo’ s latest original franchise Splatoon is set to make a splash on the Wii U later this year, and Nintendo is hoping the multiplayer mayhem will attract some newcomers to Nintendo’s home console.

A Splatoon Wii U bundle will be available at the game’s launch, Nintendo announced today. The special edition bundle will be released on May 29 along the standalone game’s release and be available exclusively at Best Buy in stores and online. The bundle will come with a Wii U console, a copy of Splatoon, and a copy of Nintendo Land, a launch game for the system that is still one of the best examples of integrating the Wii U tablet controller into gameplay.

The bundle will cost $299.99, essentially providing buyers the game for free. So if the game’s colorful palette had you considering picking up Nintendo’s hardware, this may be the best way to do so this May.

And for those unaware of the game, Splatoon is a shooter where players spray opponents and levels with different colored inks and can then swim through that ink by transforming their character into a squid. Yes, it may sound strange, but Nintendo has made far weirder ideas work, and the video below should give you some idea of how the game works. While the focus seems to be on multiplayer battles, there will be single-player options in the game.

Splatoon‘s release will also see the debut of three new Amiibo figures.
