Guitar Hero is back with Guitar Hero Live, the first new game in the franchise in five years. And with it comes a brand-new way to play and a totally new live-action aesthetic for the game.

To help introduce players to what’s to come, Activision released a new trailer from the game featuring FreeStyle Games developers expressing their mission in making this new game.

FreeStyle, the team behind the ambitious but underplayed DJ Hero, has integrated a brand new guitar controller for the game, which features two rows of three buttons, as opposed to the traditional five in one row. Along with that comes every song in the game’s campaign being set to an actual crowd and band playing live and responding to how well you perform. Nail all the notes and the crowd cheers; miss a few riffs and they might turn on you.

The new trailer offers a look at how exactly FreeStyle is integrating those live-action performers into the game, along with the philosophy behind the other major feature of the game, “Guitar Hero TV.”

Guitar Hero Live is set for release this fall for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Wii U, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and iOS devices. For more on the game, read our hands-on impressions.
