'Dancing with the Stars' celeb blog: Robert Herjavec talks the jive, team dancing, and that 1957 T-bird
It was spring break week on Dancing with the Stars, but I have to say my memories of Spring Break are a little less stressful than what #TeamSharkaroo went through last night. After last week’s quick step, Kym and I found ourselves in the bottom two. First of all—THANK YOU! Your votes saved us, and we so appreciate your support. It really is a privilege to be part of such an incredible production, and we want to keep improving and pushing forward.
Last night, we danced a jive to Surfin Safari. It was a complete blast AND we got to use a 1957 Thunderbird in our piece. (As a car guy, that was a huge win!) I felt good after the routine, and it was nice to see some improvement in the judge’s scores.
Kym always pushes me, so I definitely know what they mean when they say the content level is very, very high in our routines. I wouldn’t want it any other way. I’m here to learn from the best and to compete—I feel good about our performance, and I’m looking onwards and upwards to next Monday. Next week is “Decades” themed, and #TeamSharkaroo will be doing an Argentine Tango to represent the 80’s. I’m seeing scrunchies, turtlenecks and more big hair in my future!
We also had the opportunity to do a team dance this week. It was a nerve-wracking experience to have Nastia and Derek away for so much of our prep, but that’s the beauty of a team. We all pulled our own weight, supported each other and came away with an incredible routine. It was so nice to get to know the other dancers better—there isn’t a lot of downtime during a training week, and everyone’s schedules are so scattered.
I had the chance to bond even further with Noah Galloway. For some reason, the pros didn’t want our advice while choreographing the group number (can’t imagine why!), so we spent a lot of time to the side. I know he struggled watching the package before his dance last night and let me tell you…This man is committed to this experience, and has an incredible relationship with Sharna. We can all get frustrated at times, and have constructive conversations to move our performances forward. The audience only got to see a moment on tape, and it’s not representative of how strong these two are as partners. Well done, #TeamYOLO!
It’s going to be a busy week, so thank you again for your encouragement and votes. #TeamSharkaroo wants to go all the way—so please keep the votes coming:
