The Star Wars: The Force Awakens ensemble cast has been known for awhile now, but Star Wars Celebration offered more clarity about how the newcomers will factor in alongside stalwarts like Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo.
During the Celebration opening panel, J.J. Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy introduced John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, and Oscar Isaac as essentially the film’s three leads. And after months of silence in regard to their characters, the three actors were able to open up about who they’re playing in The Force Awakens.
Boyega is playing stormtrooper Finn, who’s seemingly gone AWOL and is in extreme danger during the film. He meets up with Ridley’s Rey, a shipyard scavenger on the planet of Jakku.
And what about Isaac’s pilot Poe Dameron?
“He’s the best fricking pilot in the galaxy, that’s who he is,” Isaac said at the panel. “He’s been sent on a mission by a certain princess,” and his and Finn’s fates become “intertwined” during the film.
While there is still plenty to discover about these characters, it’s nice to finally learn a little bit more about how they’ll interact with one another during The Force Awakens and how integral they are to its story.
