MTV2 orders pilot for 'Celebrity Deathmatch' reboot
- TV Show
What if that Twitter war between Amber Rose and Khloe Kardashian turned into an actual fight to the death? Thanks to MTV2, you might actually get to see that.
MTV2 announced Tuesday that it has ordered the pilot for a resurrection of Celebrity Deathmatch, the gory clay animated show that imagined feuding stars from the glitz and glam of the red carpet heading to the ring to tear each other apart—literally.
Creator Eric Fogel is teaming up with executive producers Chris McCarthy and Paul Ricci to resurrect the show for a third (yes, third) time. The series originally aired on MTV from 1998 to 2002, and was revived by MTV2 in 2005 for two more seasons.
Described by the network as “the gnarliest, most over-the-top gorefest that’s ever made it past broadcast censors,” the show had its share of memorable moments, including Ozzy Osbourne devouring Elton John’s head and Vanilla Ice running Ice T over with a Zamboni, only to be crushed by a frozen Ice Cube.
