In addition to being named after similarly shaped fruits, the two new Logo series premiering tonight, Cucumber and Banana, go together in every way. (Please feel free to engage in fruit vs. vegetable debates in the comments.) Both shows, created by Queer as Folk creator and Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies, explore 21st-century gay life, but each follows a different generation. The hour-long Cucumber centers on Henry Best and his long-suffering boyfriend of nine years, Lance Sullivan. The half-hour Banana follows the lives of the younger characters in Henry’s world, and all of this happens in a Manchester, England, setting.

Hopefully this two-fer will assuage the loss felt by fans of HBO’s Looking. Cucumber and Banana will debut Monday night at 10 p.m. following Logo’s tentpole (no pun intended) hit RuPaul’s Drag Race. See a pivotal scene from Cucumber below.
