Sing It On, the Pitch Perfect-inspired reality series from Pop, may not be here for a few more weeks, but EW has the first look at the music, friendships, and intense competition ahead of the premiere.

The series, executive produced by John Legend, follows five collegiate a cappella teams vying for first place at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) Finals. The teams, represented by three colleges, include: AcaBelles (Florida State University), All Night Yahtzee (Florida State University), No Comment (University of Illinois), Nor’easters (Northeastern University), and Pitch, Please! (Northeastern University).

The exclusive raw footage from the first episode provides a special sneak peek at the series, filled with all of the highs and lows one might expect. From the intense audition process to callbacks to the addition of new members, nothing is ever quite pitch perfect in the a cappella world.

Sing It On premieres Wednesday, May 13, at 10 p.m. ET on Pop, and moves to its official time slot on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET beginning on May 20.
