L.A.-based by way of Australia, Tommy Trash (born Thomas Olsen) has made a name for himself as a DJ, producer, and remixer. But first, he was a classically trained musician.
So in re-working “Hex”—the aggressive club track he dropped last fall with Wax Motif—he went back to his routes and teamed up with Daniel Heath, whose scores you may have heard in movies like The Pirates of the Carribean, The Da Vinci Code, and The Holiday. He also has writing credits all over Lana Del Rey’s discography.
They deconstructed and rearranged the track, brought in an orchestra, and the result is—in a word—beautiful. It’s available for download here.
