Tom DeLonge and Blink-182 split earlier this year on great terms… only the opposite. So now the former frontman is on his own. His solo album, To the Stars, due on April 21. The first single, which has a maybe-maybe-not subtweet title of “New World,” was released last month. And Thursday brought the first video of DeLonge’s post-Blink career for the aforementioned track.

The video is a distillation of all the angst DeLonge sang about with Blink for almost two decades: The guy’s breaking things and sullenly walking down a street by himself. Based on nothing but pure speculation, it seems anything but coincidence that the singer’s breaking a drum set, demolishing a bass guitar, and using a SLEDGEHAMMER to dismantle a piano. At times, he uses his Stratocaster as a weapon. At the end, his loyal guitar is repaired via duct tape and ready for the road. Nope, absolutely zero subtext here to dwell over. Let’s move on.
