Looks like Noel Gallagher’s dream of being a rock ‘n’ roll star isn’t working out like he might’ve planned. In a new interview with Loaded magazine, the former Oasis singer, guitarist, and songwriter revealed that he’s lost “a f–king shitload of money” since the band broke up in 2009.

“You’ve got to pay for the tour, got to pay for the wages, and you don’t really break even for about nine months,” said Gallagher, adding that he lied to his wife initially about his financial catastrophe. “Everything I’ve done since I left Oasis has come from my own pocket.”

The story isn’t all bad for Gallagher: His new album Chasing Yesterday, recorded under the moniker Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, is the fastest-selling album of 2015 in the U.K. The rocker begins an international tour in support of Chasing Yesterday on Friday.
