Netflix, Marvel name Cheo Hodari Coker as 'Luke Cage' showrunner
Marvel and Netflix’s third series together is picking up steam: Marvel has announced that Cheo Hodari Coker will serve as executive producer and showrunner of Luke Cage.
Coker will write the first two episodes of the series, which is set to premiere sometime in 2016. Coker was a co-executive producer on Showtime’s Ray Donovan during the show’s second season and was also a supervising producer on Southland. He won the 2013 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Writing for a Dramatic Series for his work on Southland. Coker began his career as a writer for the Los Angeles Times. Coker also produced the biopic Notorious and wrote the book Unbelievable: The Life, Death and Afterlife of The Notorious B.I.G.
Little is known about the show so far, but Mike Colter has previously been announced as the titular lead and will also appear in A.K.A. Jessica Jones.
Netflix and Marvel’s first show, Daredevil, will premiere on April 10, with Jessica Jones set to follow later this year.
