Matthew McConaughey is set to star in Sony’s The Billionaire’s Vinegar, according to Deadline.

The film is based on Benjamin Wallace’s book by the same name, which follows Forbes family member Bill Koch’s journey to determine whether or not a cache of wine he bought at an auction in 1985 truly belonged to Thomas Jefferson. A default judgment was filed against the wine’s supplier, Hardy Rodenstock, in 2010.

The project has been underway since 2008, when producers Todd Black, James Lassiter, Jason Blumenthal, Steve Tisch, and Will Smith obtained the rights to Wallace’s book before its publication. The same production group worked on The Pursuit of Happyness and Seven Pounds.

Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, the team behind 3:10 To Yuma and Wanted, wrote the script. The movie has no director at this time.

McConaughey is also working on Civil War drama “The Free State of Jones,” and will star in Stephen Gaghan’s “Gold.”
