Benedict Cumberbatch delivered a very special poem written by poet laureate Carol Ann Duffy Thursday for the reburial of his distant cousin, King Richard III. Cumberbatch is set to play Richard in the upcoming BBC Two historical drama The Hollow Crown: The War of the Roses. Richard’s skeleton was only recently uncovered beneath a parking lot in Leicester, England.

The Telegraph reported the connection between Cumberbatch and his long lost cousin, who are third cousins 16 times removed. Cumberbatch has several historic familial links, including a relation to Alan Turing, the British mathematician whom he played in The Imitation Game, though the two are only 17th cousins.

Thursday marks the day of reburial for Richard at Leicester Cathedral. Watch Cumberbatch recite “Richard,” in his honor.
