Chris Daughtry has landed a recurring role on Fox’s new Studio City pilot, EW has learned.

Inspired by Krista Vernoff’s real-life experience, the drama tells the story of a young singer’s (Florence Pugh) path to stardom as she comes of age living with her songwriter father (Eric McCormack), who turns out to be a drug dealer to the stars.

The American Idol alum, who will also write original music for Studio City, will play Keith Rhodes, a drug-addicted rock star.

Vernoff will write and executive-produce with John Wells and Andrew Stearn. Heather Graham, Jeanine Mason, Riley Smith, Samantha Logan, Jordan Calloway and Timothy Granaderos also star.
