Vivica A. Fox has closed a deal with 20th Century Fox to reprise her role as Jasmine Dubrow in the upcoming action-thriller sequel Independence Day 2, EW has confirmed.

Jessie Usher (Survivor’s Remorse) was cast in the lead role earlier this month, and will be playing the son of Will Smith’s Steven Hiller from the original film. Jeff Goldblum, Liam Hemsworth, and Charlotte Gainsbourg have also been cast.

In the 1996 original, Fox portrayed Jasmine, a single mother and girlfriend of Will Smith’s Steven Hiller.

Roland Emmerich will be returning to helm Independence Day 2, with a script penned by Carter Blanchard. Dean Devlin, Emmerich and Harald Kloser will produce.

Emmerich and Fox both took to Twitter to reveal Fox’s casting.

The film is set for a June 24, 2016 release, close to exactly 20 years after the original premiered.
