Twisted Sister drummer A.J. Pero dies at 55
AJ Pero, the drummer of heavy metal band Twisted Sister has died, the group reported on its Facebook page Friday. He was 55.
“The band, crew and most importantly the family of AJ Pero thank you for your thoughts and prayers at this time,” the post says.
The band told The Associated Press that he died shortly after 11 a.m. on Friday at a hospital in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., after suffering an apparent heart attack while touring with Adrenaline Mob.
Pero joined Twisted Sister originally in 1982 and did several stints with the band, during which he recorded six albums and participated in four of their world tours.
The Staten Island native was also a member of the Ozzy Osbourne cover band No More Tears.
Fellow Twisted Sister member Dee Snider tweeted, “My friend, my brother, my band mate passed away today. My heart is broken. RIP A.J. Pero.”
