One Direction's Zayn Malik to leave tour, cites 'stress'
One Direction are in the middle of a world tour, but they’ll have to continue on down one well-coiffed head of hair. The band’s publicist, Simon Jones of Hackford PR, tweeted out that Zayn Malik—who has missed tour dates and appearances on numerous occasions, most recently leaving their Perth, Australia performance early due to illness and memorably having to miss their last Today show appearance because of a tummy bug—would be heading home to recuperate from “stress.”
The band’s label responded to a request for comment, reiterating Jones’ tweeted statement: “Zayn has been signed off with stress and is flying back to the UK to recuperate. The band wish him well and will continue with their performances in Manila and Jakarta.”
