Liza Minnelli checks into rehab facility for substance abuse
Liza Minnelli is receiving treatment for substance abuse at a rehab facility, EW has confirmed.
TMZ reported that Minnelli has been in the facility for several days, with her main issue being alcohol.
Scott Gorenstein, spokesperson for the singer and Oscar-winning actress said she is “currently making excellent progress at an undisclosed facility.”
Minnelli has been in rehab several times, most recently in 2004. “Liza Minnelli has valiantly battled substance abuse over the years and whenever she has needed to seek treatment she has done so.”
Minnelli’s mother, Judy Garland, also struggled with addiction for the majority of her life, dying of an overdose in 1969.
The star was offered half a million dollars in 2010 to appear on the reality show Celebrity Rehab, but passed on the deal.
