Over the past decade, Atlanta four-piece Royal Thunder has won over an audience of metalheads with a thing for classic rock and grunge fans who’ve been down with the style since before major labels discovered it. Those fans might be surprised at the extent to which the group’s sophomore album Crooked Doors leans on its substantial pop chops. Tracks like “Glow” are more Heart than Led Zep, which is not a bad thing at all.

Crooked Doors is out April 7 on Relapse Records, and is available for pre-order now.
