'Breaking Bad' creator to fans: Stop throwing pizzas on Walter White's roof
Breaking Bad fans will never forget the moment that a frustrated Walter White took out his anger on a pizza … by throwing it on his roof. However, Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan wishes they would—or at least he wants them to stop re-creating it.
During this week’s Better Call Saul Insider Podcast, Gilligan joined Jonathan Banks to talk about the show, but before they got into the details of the Breaking Bad spinoff, Gilligan addressed all of the fans who have visited, or are planning to visit, the Walter White residence in Albuquerque. Because here’s the thing: Someone actually lives in the house that they used for Walter White, and so, as Gilligan put it, “it’s so uncool” to throw pizzas on her roof.
“They’re throwing pizzas on roofs and stuff like that,” Gilligan said. “Let me tell you: There is nothing original or funny or cool about throwing a pizza on this lady’s roof. It is just not funny. It’s been done before. You’re not the first.”
At this point, Banks chimed in with his best Mike-esque threat: “And if I catch you doing it, I will hunt you down,” before telling kids to “straighten your ass up” if you’re doing this.
Asking fans to stop, Gilligan clarified one last thing: “I don’t even consider [the people throwing pizzas] fans, I consider them jagoffs.”
