SXSW: Ron Perlman, Rupert Grint talk Kubrick in 'Moonwalkers'
The fascinating—if utterly fantastical—theory that director Stanley Kubrick faked the Apollo 11 moon-landing footage was explored at length in the recent Shining documentary Room 237. Now, that same theory acts as the blast-off point for the plot of a new action-comedy called Moonwalkers, which is screening at this year’s SXSW Festival.
Directed by Antoine Bardou-Jacquet and produced by Georges Bermann, Moonwalkers stars Ron Perlman as a CIA agent whose attempt to track down Kubrick leads him to Rupert Grint’s rock band manager. According to the official synopsis, the unlikely pair then set about constructing “the biggest con of all time.”
