Yes, Britney Spears is working on a new album. But considering she’s juggling her Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood and taking care of two sons,  the followup to 2013’s Britney Jean is on the backburner.

“I’m gonna do [a new album] slowly but surely,” Spears told Billboard. “There’s a lot going on with my kids and schools and, you know, adding new sports and stuff like that. I’m gonna try to do my best to do an amazing album, but it’s not my full priority right now.”

Britney’s Vegas stint runs through 2017.

“Right now we’re just concentrating on putting out a few great singles as they come,” Spears’ manager Larry Rudolph said. “We’re not really talking seriously about a new album yet. Albums just aren’t as important in the digital age as they used to be. Britney will get to one eventually, but not right now.”

He’s not wrong; albums don’t sell like they used to. Spears’ last killer single, though, was “Work Bitch,” which dropped in September 2013. (It peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100.)  If Rudolph words end up prophetic, then whatever comes next will soar into the top 10.
