'Scandal' casts 'True Blood' alum Lauren Bowles as Mellie's sister

Scandal fans are about to see a new side to FLOTUS.

True Blood alum Lauren Bowles has been tapped to play Mellie’s (Bellamy Young) sister Harmony in an upcoming episode of Scandal, EW has learned.

While Harmony’s introduction in the April 2 episode will shed light on where Mellie came from, her presence could jeopardize her sister’s political aspirations.

This isn’t Bowles’ first trip to Shondaland, as the actress has appeared on both Private Practice and Grey’s Anatomy in different roles.

Scandal airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
