Kat Graham debuted a new single, “1991,” on Tuesday, and the song is true to its retro title.

On the track, the singer channels ’90s R&B queens like TLC, Brandy and Aaliyah, complete with deep vocals, a bouncy bassline and even a Left Eye-style rap.

Graham left her former label Interscope Records because of what she called a “lack of creative control” and put together her own team to produce her forthcoming album, which is expected in April. And the “1991” style is here to stay – she told MTV News that the whole album is ‘90s inspired.
