Based on a true story, Daniel Alfredson’s caper about the sensational 1983 kidnapping of Dutch beer baron Alfred Heineken (Anthony Hopkins) by a group of cash-strapped pals is a thriller that could have used more thrills. Jim Sturgess and Sam Worthington are both solid as the ransom-seeking ringleaders planning themselves into a corner. And in just a few scenes, Hopkins conjures up some sorely needed fizz. But the low-key vibe of the film doesn’t match the high-stakes audacity of the crime. B–
