J.K. Rowling 'cried her eyes out' at BBC's 'Casual Vacancy' ending

The ending to BBC’s The Casual Vacancy left J.K. Rowling “crying her eyes out,” according to the U.K.’s Telegraph. The final episode of the three-part series aired Sunday and 4.6 million people tuned in, two million fewer than the premiere episode.
The ending received an update from Rowling’s version, as the screenwriters found it too “grim.” But while some fans took to Twitter to express their displeasure with the adaptation, Rowling tweeted it was a “job done” and a special “thank you” to the the director as well as screenwriter, Sarah Phelps.
The Casual Vacancy is set to premiere stateside April 29 on HBO.
