Tom Ellis cast as Lucifer in DC Comics-based pilot

Fox and Warner Bros. have found their Lucifer for the upcoming TV pilot Lucifer: Tom Ellis, who starred in USA Network’s Rush and UK’s Miranda, will take on the title role in the pilot based on the DC Comics character.

Disillusioned as the ruler of Hell, Lucifer ditches his kingdom and heads for greener pastures—Los Angeles, California. To occupy his time, the fallen angel helps the LAPD take down criminals.

The character first appeared in Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen No. 65 in 1962 and was later resurrected in Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman series in 1989.
