New York-based EMEFE, the eight-person brainchild of Miles Arntzen (of afrobeat/experimental outfit Antibalas as well as the on-tour drummer for Will Butler of Arcade Fire this spring) will release their self-titled debut LP May 5. Tuesday, they are releasing the video for its first single, “Same Thing,” which feels like a short film with a thumping, saxophone-heavy soundtrack.

The song—urgent and almost desperate—is about breaking out of the monotone patterns life is subject to fall into and its sound is inspired by Fela Kuti and Prince, both of whose influences are evident in the track below.
