Between all the drama and dropped mics and wicked Cookie one-liners, it’s easy to forget that one of the best parts of Fox’s runaway hit Empire is, quite frankly, the music.

EW has an exclusive first listen to “You’re So Beautiful,” a brand new track from the Lyons’ prodigal son Jamal (Jussie Smollett), who’s on course to be music’s next big music thing—if he can steal the spotlight from his brother, Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray), who also appears on the track. The song itself is a remake of one of their father Lucious’ (Terrence Howard) originals.

“’You’re So Beautiful’ is one of my favorite songs this season,” Smollett tells EW. “It was produced by the great Jim Beanz and co-written by Jim and myself. When Jim first played the track, it spoke right to me. The lyrics were actually inspired by Gabby Sidibe. She’s confident, sexy, and owns exactly who she is, but every now and then… you just need to simply hear the words, ‘You’re So Beautiful.’”

Listen to the song below before it premieres on Wednesday’s episode of Empire, “The Lyon’s Roar.”
