Ewan McGregor is set to direct his first feature film—and he’s attached to star in it, too. McGregor is taking over directing duties on the Philip Roth adaptation, American Pastoral, Lakeshore Entertainment announced today.
Phillip Noyce, recently of The Giver, was previously going to direct. (As was Fisher Stevens at one point, as Deadline notes.)
McGregor is joined in the film by Jennifer Connelly and Dakota Fanning, and the film is set to begin shooting in September of this year.
Roth’s novel won the 1998 Pulitzer Prize.
