'SNL' 40: Red Carpet buzz from Sarah Palin, Kate McKinnon, Paul Feig, more
Saturday Night Live celebrated its 40th anniversary Sunday with special appearances, throwback sketches, and a whole room full of people tied to the history of this NBC institution.
Stars from Betty White to Will Ferrell to Eddie Murphy came together to pay tribute to the series. So, on the red carpet, EW decided to walk down memory lane and get the scoop on when celebrities first discovered SNL, what sketches are their favorites, and why Sarah Palin thinks Tina Fey owes her kids braces.
Tom Arnold on his history with the show: “It’s like if you’re a football player and you want to go to the Super Bowl sometime. This is exactly like that. Maybe it was a long time ago, but it doesn’t matter. I’ve still got the rings.”
AJ McLean wants to be Stefon’s little brother: “I would love to do anything with Stefon, even though I’d probably break character immediately because Bill Hader is amazing and that character is amazing. But if I could be Stefon’s younger brother and we could just do a whole sketch without breaking character, that’d be pretty awesome.”
