[SPOILER ALERT: Read on only if you have already watched Monday’s season finale of The Celebrity Apprentice.]
The saddest time of year is upon us, as another Celebrity Apprentice season comes to a close and we are denied watching semi-famous people argue about butt implants and menstrual cycles until Donald Trump rounds up another cast of crazies for our viewing pleasure. But happy days were here again for one lucky contestant as a winner was crowned at the conclusion of tonight’s finale along with all the perks that come with it—namely, $250,000 for said winner’s charity as well as the symbolic title of Celebrity Apprentice champion. And that winner was…Leeza Gibbons!
The former Entertainment Tonight and Leeza host defeated Geraldo Rivera and was “hired” by Trump after dominating from start-to-finish this season. Leeza sealed her victory after coming up with an effective commercial for Universal Studios Orlando, getting Olivia Newton-John to play her party (with a song from Xanadu, no less), and raising $324,000 through vacation package sales (to previous fund-raising champ Geraldo’s $146,000). As for Geraldo, he’ll have to be content with runner-up status and the fact that he just said this on national television: “I’ve really pushed myself to the limit. I’ve shown that an old guy can still get it up.”
My full recap will be up soon, but feel free to weigh in with your thoughts on both the outcome and Donald Trump’s bizarre pronunciation of Keshia Knight Pulliam’s name, as well as your pick for the evening’s most ludicrous moment.
