'Walking Dead' star David Morrissey joins 'Extant'

David Morrissey has landed a recurring role on Extant, EW has learned.

The Walking Dead alum will play General Tobias Shepherd, the head of the Global Security Commission, who is known and respected for making the tough calls of wartime and standing by them—even when they are morally ambiguous. Shepherd has a personal history with Molly Woods (Halle Berry), a fact that complicates his work (and his life) in the face of a deadly new threat to humanity.

Morrissey joins the recently cast Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who has signed on as a series regular for season 2. The Magic City alum will portray J.D. Richter, a cop and bounty hunter who thought he had seen everything until Molly enters his life.

Extant is expected to return in the summer.
