Marvel announces 'A-Force,' the first all-female Avengers team
This summer’s Secret Wars isn’t just going to end the Marvel Universe as we know it—The Avengers are coming to an end as well. In their place, another team will take its place—one that’s entirely comprised of female heroes.
Marvel calls the team A-Force, and it’s made up of women spanning the entirety of the Marvel Universe. From Runaways‘ Nico Minoru to She-Hulk and Dazzler, the lineup is absolutely packed with powerful, diverse characters. Co-written by G. Willow Wilson (Ms. Marvel) and Margaurite Bennet (Angela: Asgard’s Assassin) with art by Jorge Molina, A-Force seeks to include a diverse cast of women, while also introducing a few new ones—including Singularity, a cosmically powered hero.
“She-Hulk, Dazzler, Medusa, Nico Minoru and other fan favorites, will take charge,” says series co-writer G. Willow Wilson in a statement. “We’ve purposefully assembled a team composed of different characters from disparate parts of the Marvel U, with very different power sets, identities and ideologies.”
It’s not Marvel’s first all-female team, or even the only one they have right now—X-Men, also by G. Willow Wilson, with art by Roland Boschi, focuses on a core cast of women. There’s also over a dozen other female-led titles, all great series ranging in tone and style from Captain Marvel to Storm to The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl.
A-Force will launch in May.
