The recent surge in interest in vintage dream pop has resulted in some fascinating new hybrids. For instance, Californian sextet Deep Fields blend the genre’s ethereal sonic atmosphere with the kind of fuzzy stoner garage pop that King Tuff and the Burger Records crew specialize in. Behind the layers of reverb, there are some sharp hooks, and their upcoming self-titled EP, out March 31, should be a must-have for fans of blissed-out psych-pop.
