Musician and filmmaker Rebekka Karijord was born just in Norway just south of the Arctic Circle, and her creations seem to have picked up some haunted, lonely energy from the surrounding landscape. On Thursday, she releases an expanded deluxe version of her latest album We Become Ourselves, which intertwines the aching melodic qualities of Cat Power’s best work and Björk’s cosmic faerie energy. It includes an alternate take of the track “You Make Me Real,” a pretty piano ballad woven with unsettling sub-bass vibrations and a spooky-but-gorgeous video (directed by Karijord herself) that only enhances the feeling.
