Sons of Anarchy‘s Charlie Hunnam may have backed out of starring in the Fifty Shades of Grey film, but he’s jumped aboard the adaptation of another beloved best-seller. Hunnam will play Col. Percival Fawcett, the doomed explorer in James Gray’s adaptation of David Grann’s novel, The Lost City of Z—a role once linked to Benedict Cumberbatch.
Fawcett disappeared in the jungles of Brazil in 1925 while he was searching for a fabled lost city of riches that he called Z. Grann’s 2009 work of non-fiction quickly got snapped up by Hollywood, and Brad Pitt’s Plan B is producing the feature. Sienna Miller will portray Nina Fawcett, the colonel’s wife, and Robert Pattinson will also star, reportedly as one of Fawcett’s traveling companions, Henry Costin.
Production is expected to begin this summer.
