Via Tania’s 2003 album, Under a Different Sky, established her as a forward-looking indie-pop auteur, blending accessible melodies with uniquely textured contributions from avant-garde-leaning artists like Prefuse 73 and Tim Kinsella. Her latest, Via Tania and the Tomorrow Music Orchestra, takes a slightly different tack, pairing her with a group of orchestral musicians who provide her compositions with both a substantial amount of sonic heft and a retro sensibility that she seems to enjoy tweaking in a good-natured, Bjork-like way. It’s all on display on the new single, “I See You Tiger,” which boasts a luxuriously verdant new video.

Via Tania and the Tomorrow Music Orchestra is out Feb. 24 on Narooma Records, and is available for preorder here
